1 Gallon Clematis - Ernest Markham
'Ernest Markham' Clematis produces vibrant magenta-red flowers with a frilly centre of golden anthers on fast-growing vines. A vigorous grower once it takes off, be sure to give this clematis an arbor, fence or trellis to climb on and twist around. Blooms appear in early to mid summer and then come in strong again in late summer. Deer and rabbit resistant. (Clematis)
They should be pruned in late winter or early spring and require 'hard pruning': simply cut back the stems to a pair of strong buds about 1ft. (30 cm) above ground level before growth begins in early spring.
